Volunteer with Hospice

Methodist Hospice volunteers offer their time and talents to support hospice patients and their families. Whether they are spending time with patients, greeting visitors with a smile, or helping out in the office, these dedicated individuals provide invaluable support for the hospice program.

Volunteer Opportunities

Choose from a variety of roles, depending on your skills and interests.

  • Keep patients company.
  • Support families after the death of their loved one.
  • Help patients relax and find enjoyment.
  • Perform clerical tasks in our office or maintain our music library.
  • Greet visitors at the Hospice Residence reception desk.
  • Help with mailings, holiday events, fundraising, Camp BraveHearts and other events.
  • Participate in alternative therapies, such as music or pet therapy.
  • Run errands for the patients and families, such as grocery shopping or going to the post office.
  • Provide respite for the patient’s primary caregiver.
  • Perform light housekeeping/yard work.

Volunteer Requirements

Hospice volunteers are compassionate, empathetic, and dependable. They want to make a difference for others and enjoy being part of something meaningful. If that sounds like you, then you should consider joining our team. Volunteers must complete an eight-hour training and meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening
  • Must be willing to provide proof of required vaccinations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license/government ID and reliable transportation
  • Must have valid auto insurance if applicable
