Methodist Hospice volunteers offer their time and talents to support hospice patients and their families. Whether they are spending time with patients, greeting visitors with a smile, or helping out in the office, these dedicated individuals provide invaluable support for the hospice program.
Volunteer Opportunities
Choose from a variety of roles, depending on your skills and interests.
- Keep patients company.
- Support families after the death of their loved one.
- Help patients relax and find enjoyment.
- Perform clerical tasks in our office or maintain our music library.
- Greet visitors at the Hospice Residence reception desk.
- Help with mailings, holiday events, fundraising, Camp BraveHearts and other events.
- Participate in alternative therapies, such as music or pet therapy.
- Run errands for the patients and families, such as grocery shopping or going to the post office.
- Provide respite for the patient’s primary caregiver.
- Perform light housekeeping/yard work.
Volunteer Requirements
Hospice volunteers are compassionate, empathetic, and dependable. They want to make a difference for others and enjoy being part of something meaningful. If that sounds like you, then you should consider joining our team. Volunteers must complete an eight-hour training and meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- Must be willing to provide proof of required vaccinations
- Must have a valid driver’s license/government ID and reliable transportation
- Must have valid auto insurance if applicable
